Independence Day is nearly here, and there’s no better place to celebrate than the heart of the Shenandoah Valley. From fireworks in Harrisonburg to family-friendly festivals in Broadway and Staunton, communities across Rockingham County are coming together for a weekend of patriotic fun. Whether you’re a long-time local or visiting for the holiday, here’s your complete guide to the best 4th of July events in the Shenandoah Valley for 2025.
Massanutten Summer Jam | 5–10 PM
Start your celebration at Massanutten Resort with one of the largest fireworks shows in the area. Enjoy live music from Fleetwood Macked, The Judy Chops, and Mojo Parker, along with food trucks, beer and wine, and kids’ activities. Fireworks begin at 10 PM. Advance tickets are $30.
Groovin’ at the Greenway – Waynesboro | 6 PM at Constitution Park
Bring the whole family for live music from WaHookies, tasty food from local vendors, and free kids’ activities hosted by the Blue Ridge Children’s Museum.
Firecracker 5K – Staunton | 7:30 AM at Gypsy Hill Park
Start your morning with this festive run through Staunton as part of the Happy Birthday America celebration. Registration is $30 and open online.
Valley 4th Run – Harrisonburg | 8 AM
Harrisonburg’s signature race features a Slip ‘n Slide finish line and multiple distance options (1.5-mile, 5K, or 10K). It’s the only chip-timed Independence Day race in the Shenandoah Valley where you can choose your distance. Registration is open until July 3.
Downtown Get Down – Luray | 12–9 PM
Celebrate in Downtown Luray with lawn games, duck races, food vendors, and live music from Big City Band and the Earls of Kent starting at 6 PM. Fireworks cap off the evening.
Happy Birthday America – Staunton
Enjoy a full day of activities at Gypsy Hill Park, including a 10 AM parade, carnival rides starting at noon, live music from 2 PM, and fireworks at 10 PM. This free, family-friendly event is a Shenandoah Valley tradition.
No Bull…Just Bluegrass Festival – Rockingham County Fairgrounds | July 4–5
Celebrate with two full days of live bluegrass music featuring Lonesome River Band, Junior Sisk, and Nothin’ Fancy. Tickets are available now for this annual event at the Rockingham County Fairgrounds.
Woodstock Fireworks | 9:30 PM at Shenandoah County Fairgrounds
Gates open at 8:30 PM and the fireworks begin at approximately 9:30 PM. Admission is free.
Harrisonburg Fireworks Display | 9 PM
The City of Harrisonburg’s fireworks show takes place on Friday, July 5. Before the show, enjoy live music starting at 7 PM at Turner Pavilion as part of the Levitt AMP Harrisonburg Music Series.

Red, White & Brew – Broadway | 5–9 PM at Heritage Park
Enjoy local brews from Blue Ridge Beverage, wine from Showalter’s, food vendors, and live music by Nashville recording artist Corey Hager and Shane Click. Admission is $10 and drink tickets are $5.
Bryce Fest – Basye | 11 AM–10 PM at Bryce Resort
Enjoy a full day of live music, shopping local vendors, and fireworks to close out the evening. This annual event at Bryce Resort is family-friendly and full of mountain charm.
